AGTMS North Campus graduates 123 Pastors at 65th graduation ceremony
The graduates, who identified themselves as the “Watchers of His Flock,” included nine students who earned Bachelor’s Degrees in Theology and 114 who completed Diplomas in Theology.

The Assemblies of God Theological and Missions Seminary (AGTMS), North Campus, on Saturday November 8, held its 65th graduation ceremony, marking the commissioning of 123 trained pastors in a colorful and spirit-filled event at the school’s premises.
The graduates, who identified themselves as the “Watchers of His Flock,” included nine students who earned Bachelor’s Degrees in Theology and 114 who completed Diplomas in Theology. They are set to embark on their pastoral journeys, serving God and humanity across Ghana and beyond.
Delivering the keynote address, the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Dr. Stephen Y. Wengam, charged the graduates to serve with humility and faithfulness, emphasizing that ministry effectiveness is measured not by academic credentials but by a steadfast commitment to God’s call.
“Some of you are leaving here with diplomas, others with degrees, but the Kingdom of God does not measure ministry effectiveness by certificates alone.” Rev. Dr. Wengam said.
“What God looks for is faithfulness. As Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2, ‘The things you heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.’ Your training has prepared you for this task, not to boast of knowledge, but to serve with humility.”
He further encouraged the graduates to stand firm amid the challenges of today’s world.
“Beloved class of 2025, you are graduating into a world marked by spiritual hunger, moral confusion, and economic uncertainty. The Ghana we live in, the Africa we are part of, and the world we inhabit all need shepherds who will not abandon their flock when wolves approach.” He urged.
This year’s ceremony was dedicated to the memory of the late Rev. Joshua Kaba Alira, one of the first eight graduates of the then Northern Territories Bible School in 1952.
Rev. Alira faithfully served the Assemblies of God Church in various parts of northern Ghana, pastoring and planting churches in Bolgatanga (1952–1958), Gambaga (1958–1963), Tinguri near Walewale (1963–1966), and Navrongo, where he led the Navrongo Central Assembly.
In the lead-up to the graduation, a special dinner was held two days earlier in honor of the graduates and their families. The event featured songs of praise, thanksgiving, and exhortations celebrating the successful completion of years of study and ministry preparation.
The Assemblies of God Theological and Missions Seminary in Kumbungu–Tamale, established 75 years ago, has produced many distinguished men and women of God who continue to make remarkable contributions to the growth of the Assemblies of God Church and Christian ministry across Ghana and beyond.
