Students of the C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) in Navrongo have issued an ultimatum to management to address pressing issues affecting the student populace.
In a joint memo dated April, 25, 2025 by the Students Representative Council (SRC) and the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASSAG), the students expressed frustration over the management’s inaction despite numerous complaints and engagements.
“We have written, spoken, and waited with hope, but our cries have been met with silence and inaction. It is clear that management has turned a blind eye to the challenges we face daily,” the students stated.
The student body has set a deadline of May 21, 2025, for management to resolve the outstanding issues, failure to do so will lead to a peaceful demonstration.
“We are issuing a final ultimatum: management has until 21st May, 2025 to resolve these outstanding issues. Failure to do so will leave us with no choice but to stage a peaceful demonstration to demand the dignity, respect, and solutions we rightfully deserve.” The statement reads.
The key concerns raised by the students in the memo addressed to the Vice Chancellor through the Dean of Students include;
– Unavailability of lecture halls and inadequate furniture
– Poor lighting, malfunctioning electrical sockets, and non-operational fans in lecture halls
– Poorly maintained washrooms and lack of water supply
– Poor sanitation and waste management across campus
– Unfair charges of extension fees for postgraduate students
– Lack of organization and communication regarding graduation ceremonies
– Disagreement over school fee structures and lack of student representation in academic policy formulation
The students emphasized that their actions are a call for accountability and empathy in the interest of the school community.
