Daniel Kansake urges government to prioritize 24-hour economy in 2026 Budget

Kansake emphasized that adequate funding for the agricultural component of the 24-hour economy would help tackle the many challenges confronting farmers, particularly in northern Ghana.

The Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Navrongo Central Constituency, Daniel Kansake, has called on the government to make full budgetary allocations for the implementation of its proposed 24-hour economy initiative in the upcoming 2026 Budget.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday, November 10, Kansake emphasized that adequate funding for the agricultural component of the 24-hour economy would help tackle the many challenges confronting farmers, particularly in northern Ghana.

“I expect the Finance Minister to outline measures that will address the rice glut in our constituency and many parts of northern Ghana. Our farmers have produced a lot of rice, yet there’s no ready market for it. Some still have last year’s stock in their stores. I expect my MP to push the government to prioritize farmers’ concerns in next year’s budget.” He said.

Kansake argued that with deliberate investment and planning, the 24-hour economy could become a major driver of growth and employment, especially in agro-based communities.

Kansake also predicted that the 2026 Budget may come with new taxes.

“This budget will find a way to give us more taxes, watch out. They are likely to impose taxes on petroleum products, water, and electricity.” He cautioned.
