Efforts underway to complete youth resource centre – Navrongo MP
Aworigo confirmed that he has engaged in productive discussions with the Minister for Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, to address the challenges hindering the project's progress.
Simon Akibange Aworigo, Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central, has pledged to expedite the completion of the long-delayed Navrongo Youth Resource Centre, a project that has faced significant setbacks since its inception nearly seven years ago.
In an interview on Timalgo Sosega on Mike FM, Aworigo confirmed that he has engaged in productive discussions with the Minister for Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, to address the challenges hindering the project’s progress.
He expressed confidence that construction would resume shortly, bringing the facility closer to its intended purpose.
“I have engaged the Minister for Youth and Sports Kofi Adam and we have spoken about how we can complete the project,” He said in Kasem.
The Navrongo Youth Resource Centre was conceived as a multi-purpose facility to nurture sports talents and serve as a hub for social recreation.
However, construction has stalled due to financial constraints and disputes between the government and contractors. Despite some progress, the project remains uncomplete, with the contractor having abandoned the site.
Aworigo emphasized the importance of the facility to the youth of Navrongo, stating, “The completion of this centre is crucial for the development of our young people and the promotion of sports.”
He assured constituents that he would utilize all available resources and influence to ensure the project reaches completion.
In addition to his efforts on the Youth Resource Centre, Aworigo highlighted ongoing initiatives to improve waste management in the area. He revealed plans to collaborate with government waste management programs to enhance sanitation and cleanliness in Navrongo.
As discussions continue with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, residents of Navrongo remain hopeful that the completion of the Youth Resource Centre will soon become a reality.
