The Ghana Women’s Volleyball Team has secured qualification for the 2026 Africa Nations Championship after an impressive performance at the Zone 3 Nations Qualifiers held in Côte d’Ivoire.
The team won all its matches in straight sets, defeating Burkina Faso, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, and Togo to book their place at the continental championship.
Ghana’s men’s volleyball team had already secured qualification, meaning the country will be represented by both the men’s and women’s teams at the tournament.
The 2026 Africa Nations Championship is scheduled to take place in Kenya in August 2026.
Speaking on Mike Elite Sports on Mike FM, the Head Coach of the Ghana Women’s Volleyball Team, Danlaadi Rahaman, expressed disappointment over the lack of financial and logistical support received during the qualification campaign.
According to Coach Rahaman, the Ghana Volleyball Federation wrote several letters to the government and other organizations seeking support for the teams, but their appeals yielded little or no response.
He therefore called on the government to extend greater support to volleyball and other sporting disciplines, stressing that attention and resources should not be focused solely on football. He urged authorities to invest in all sports to enable Ghanaian athletes to compete effectively and achieve success on the international stage.
The qualification of both the men’s and women’s teams is a significant achievement for Ghana volleyball and reflects the dedication and hard work of the players, coaches, and officials despite the challenges they faced.
