Health Minister suspends Principal of Nalerugu Nurses and Midwifery College over unauthorized admissions
The directive, contained in a press release issued by the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit on February 27, follows the Minister’s working tour of health training institutions and facilities in the Upper East, North East and Northern Regions to assess service delivery and operational standards.
The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has directed the immediate suspension of the Principal of the Nalerugu Nurses and Midwifery College in the North East Region over alleged unauthorized admissions.
The directive, contained in a press release issued by the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit on February 27, follows the Minister’s working tour of health training institutions and facilities in the Upper East, North East and Northern Regions to assess service delivery and operational standards.
According to the statement, preliminary findings during the visit revealed breaches of established admission protocols at the college. The Minister subsequently ordered the suspension of the Principal pending further investigations.
Akandoh cautioned heads of health training institutions against flouting laid-down procedures, warning that any violations of approved admission processes would attract strict sanctions.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to transparency, accountability and the maintenance of high standards in health training institutions across the country.
