Joseph Adongo urges swift appointment of MMDCEs for uninterrupted development
This, he believes, will ensure uninterrupted development at the local government level.

Joseph Adongo, the immediate past Municipal Chief Executive for the Kassena Nankana Municipal Assembly, is calling for incoming governments to expedite the nomination and appointment of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
This, he believes, will ensure uninterrupted development at the local government level.
Adongo expressed his concerns on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on April 7, 2025, highlighting the delays that often accompany a change in government and hinder critical developmental projects within the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
“What that means is that if we need these MMDCEs to work effectively, I think governments should always make sure MMDCEs are nominated within the shortest possible time to take over,” he said.
Adongo cited a specific example in Kassena Nankana where road development projects were halted following a transition in government. The DRIP machines intended for the Precast Road works were sidelined after a new administration took office, bringing everything to a stop.
This, he emphasized, underscores the need for timely appointments to maintain developmental momentum.
Congratulating the New MCE
Adongo also congratulated Faustina Akeyom Abulu on her nomination as the new MCE for the Kassena Nankana Municipal Assembly, praising her competence and expressing confidence in her ability to lead the municipality forward.
“Her nomination means a lot. Since we became a Municipality, we have never had a woman. She will be the first woman to become an MCE if she is confirmed,” Adongo said.
Adongo encouraged Abulu to remain open to diverse perspectives and approach her role with the willingness to learn.
“She should be open to the views of those she will be working with, while maintaining a heart that is ready to learn on the job,” Adongo advised.
The nomination of MMDCEs remains a critical part of local governance in Ghana, and stakeholders continue to call for timely processes to ensure developmental momentum is not lost during political transitions.
