Military Helicopter crash report vindicates NPP’s call for new aircraft – Francis Bugase

Bugase said the report’s recommendation for the Ghana Air Force fleet to be modernized aligns with the NPP’s earlier proposal to Parliament for the purchase of a new presidential jet, an initiative he said was met with strong opposition.

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Chiana-Paga Constituency, Francis Bugase, has stated that the findings of the investigation into the recent military helicopter crash have vindicated the NPP’s earlier call for the modernization of Ghana’s air fleet.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Wednesday, November 12, Bugase said the report’s recommendation for the Ghana Air Force fleet to be modernized aligns with the NPP’s earlier proposal to Parliament for the purchase of a new presidential jet, an initiative he said was met with strong opposition.

“The report came out yesterday, and the very first recommendation is that we need a modernized Air Force fleet, something the NPP proposed when we were in power, but it was openly rejected. And today, here we are. We should bow our heads in shame,” Bugase remarked.

He noted that the August 6 helicopter crash underscores the urgent need for Ghana to acquire new and safer aircraft to ensure the effective transportation and safety of state officials.

“Without delay, for emergency response to be effective, let’s put politics aside and prioritize the lives and safety of our officials all politicians must understand that national security and the safety of our leaders should come first.”

Bugase emphasized that the modernization of the Air Force fleet is not merely a political issue but a national security necessity, and he called on all parties to support measures that would strengthen the country’s aviation assets.
