NDC demonstrates strong commitment to recovering looted state funds — Asurayaga

She cautioned, however, that corruption-related prosecutions are often lengthy and should not be misconstrued as a lack of resolve.

Angelina Asurayaga, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team for the Chiana-Paga Constituency, has stated that the party has shown clear and sufficient commitment to recovering looted state funds from former appointees of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Wednesday, January 21, Asurayaga pointed to concrete actions by the NDC government as evidence of this commitment.

“The commitment is there for everyone to see,” she said. “The government began with Operation Recover All Loot, under which reported cases have been gathered and are currently before the courts.” ”

“High-profile matters such as the Sky Train case, the Wontumi mining case, and the pursuit of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta all demonstrate that the government is serious.”

She cautioned, however, that corruption-related prosecutions are often lengthy and should not be misconstrued as a lack of resolve.

“Corruption cases take a considerable amount of time because they require thorough investigations and sufficient evidence to secure convictions. Asset recovery is also a process that does not happen overnight,” she explained.

Asurayaga further argued that public frustration over alleged mismanagement and looting of state resources under the NPP was a major factor in the NDC’s electoral victory.

“Ghanaians became fed up with the looting of state resources, and that is why they voted for the NDC,” she said, adding that the party is determined to justify the confidence placed in it by the electorate.

She assured that the NDC remains committed to accountability, transparency, and protecting the public purse as it works to restore trust in.
