NDC’s Maurice Achana welcomes Global Info Analytics survey on Akwatia By-election

Achana described the findings as “refreshing but not surprising,” citing the constituency’s voting patterns.

Maurice Achana, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team for the Navrongo Central Constituency, has welcomed the latest Global Info Analytics survey projecting an NDC victory in the Akwatia by-election.

The survey tipped the NDC’s Bernard Baidoo to secure 53% of the votes. Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday, September 1, Achana described the findings as “refreshing but not surprising,” citing the constituency’s voting patterns.

“The poll by Global Info Analytics is refreshing but not surprising because when you look at the dynamics of Akwatia as a constituency, it is considered one of the swing constituencies in Ghana.” he said.

According to Achana, the results reflect the impact of the NDC government’s policies on the lives of Ghanaians and the trust citizens have in its management of the economy. He argued that the survey outcome reaffirms the positive perception of the NDC’s performance nationwide.

He further criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claiming the party lacks a convincing message for the people of Akwatia. “We said they don’t have a message and they said they do. But they have not presented any. They are only saying that Ernest Kumi is dead and so people should vote for the NPP to keep his legacy,” Achana stated.

Expressing optimism about his party’s chances, Achana predicted a decisive victory for the NDC in Tuesday’s poll. “If you look at the numbers, everything points to the fact that the NDC is going to win the Akwatia seat tomorrow and there are no two ways about that,” he said confidently.

The Akwatia by-election, scheduled for September 2, follows the passing of NPP Member of Parliament Ernest Kumi in July.
