NPP Youth organizer blames leadership failure and self-interest for feud between Navrongo MP and MCE
Bayivere said the growing tension between the two leaders has reduced the image of Navrongo to public ridicule and called for urgent intervention to restore unity and focus on development.
The Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Navrongo Central Constituency, Daniel Bayivere, has attributed the ongoing feud between the Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central, Simon Aworigo, and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kassena-Nankana,Faustina Abulu, to what he describes as leadership failure driven by personal egos, self-seeking agendas, and self-interest.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Wednesday October 15, Bayivere said the growing tension between the two leaders has reduced the image of Navrongo to public ridicule and called for urgent intervention to restore unity and focus on development.
“It is an eyesore what we witnessed the other day in Parliament. Navrongo, our cherished municipality, has been reduced to a laughing stock and exposed to public ridicule because we have leadership failure driven by personal egos, self-seeking agendas, and self-interest. That is the crux of the matter, that is what is driving the feud between the MP and the MCE.” He lamented.
Bayivere alleged that the friction between the two leaders dates back to the appointment and confirmation of Faustina Abulu as MCE. According to him, internal tensions that emerged during her nomination process have persisted despite her eventual confirmation and reappointment.
“The Regional Minister intervened to ensure her confirmation, but when that process failed and she was later reappointed, similar tensions resurfaced. Do you know why the government-appointed Assembly Members had their appointments revoked? It was alleged that they voted against the woman, and that the MP had a hand in that. This is the genesis of the issues.” Bayivere explained.
He expressed concern that the prolonged conflict between the two leaders could hamper development efforts in the area and urged party leadership and relevant stakeholders to intervene swiftly to restore peace and cooperation.
Bayivere concluded by calling for unity and maturity among the political leadership in Navrongo, emphasizing that the progress of the municipality should be placed above personal interests and political rivalry.
