PAYOM Chairman calls for improved water supply, agenda 111 hospital completion at unity games finale
PAYOM Chairman urges swift action on Paga’s water challenges and the completion of the Agenda 111 Hospital as the annual unity games conclude.
The Chairman of the Paga Youth Movement (PAYOM), Wenawome Duriyem Aborah, has called on the government and relevant stakeholders to urgently address Paga’s persistent water challenges and fast-track the completion of the Agenda 111 Hospital project to improve the living conditions of residents.
The appeal was made during the closing ceremony of the 5th edition of the PAYOM Inter-Community Unity Games, held on Sunday, July 12, at the Paga Football Park.
Addressing participants and guests, Aborah underscored the importance of reliable water supply to the development of the border town.
“Our people deserve a dependable water system that meets the needs of a growing community,” he said, while urging the Government and the Ghana Water Company Limited to prioritise the expansion and improvement of Paga’s water supply system.
He also renewed calls for the completion and operationalisation of the Agenda 111 Hospital, stressing that the facility would significantly improve access to quality healthcare for Paga and neighbouring communities.
“We respectfully urge the government to ensure that this important project is completed and equipped without further delay,” Aborah appealed.
Reflecting on the significance of the tournament, the PAYOM Chairman said the unity games had grown beyond a sporting competition into an important platform for promoting peace, social cohesion and youth development.
“The PAYOM Inter-Community Unity Games have become more than a sporting event. They have grown into an important platform for fostering peace, strengthening relationships among our communities, identifying young talents, promoting healthy lifestyles, and encouraging the active participation of our youth in community development,” he stated.

Aborah commended participating teams, traditional authorities, security agencies, volunteers, sponsors, health personnel and media partners for contributing to the success of the tournament.
He urged the youth to continue promoting peace, volunteerism and mutual respect while rejecting violence and drug abuse.
The football competition ended with Nyania Football Club defeating Nabio-Batiu FC by a lone goal to emerge champions of this year’s edition.
Winners and outstanding participants in the various sporting disciplines were presented with trophies, medals and other awards in recognition of their performances.
Aborah congratulated all participating teams and expressed optimism that the sixth edition of the PAYOM Inter-Community Unity Games would be even bigger and more impactful in promoting unity and development in Paga.
