President Mahama has demonstrated commitment to women inclusion in governance – NDC
According to him, the president’s appointment of 10 women out of the 55 ministers highlights his growing emphasis on gender inclusion in his government.
Godfred Apolala, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team in the Navrongo Central Constituency, has lauded President John Dramani Mahama for demonstrating commitment to women inclusion in his government.
According to him, the president’s appointment of 10 women out of the 55 ministers highlights his growing emphasis on gender inclusion in his government.
He said, “the NDC gives opportunities for women to lead. For the first time in the history of Ghana, we have a lady as the vice president of the country. That alone is something big for the women. We can say that so far, the president has done an explicit job”
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Friday February 7, 2025, Apolala said the current NDC government has outperformed the previous Akufo-Addo led NPP government in female representation in governance, with an attainment of a historic 28%.
“The other government that had 120 plus Ministers. The women how many were they? They were not even up to the number we have given.”
While he urged the president to give more slots to women in his government, Apolala urged women who are lucky to be considered for positions to give off their best in the discharge of duties.
He opined that female appointees who excel in their positions would encourage the appointing authorities to give more opportunities to women.
