The St. Matthew Technical Vocational Institute, founded by Reverend Father Albert Wuuga at Paga-Bayono in the Kassena-Nankana West District, has been officially absorbed by the Government of Ghana as a public boarding and day institution.
The announcement was made by Rev. Fr. Wugaa during a familiarisation visit by the Navro-Pio, Pe Denis Belinia Aniakwa Adda Asagpare II, to the school on Friday, May 1.
Fr. Wugaa disclosed that the institute, which was established with support from the Follman Family in memory of Mathew David Follman, is set to admit its first batch of students in the next academic year.
He indicated that the school will begin with three technical programmes: Electrical Installation, Welding and Fabrication, and Hospitality Management (Home Economics).

“After years of mediation and lobbying, today we have the TVET approved and granted boarding status to run three courses.” He stated.
Fr. Wugaa further noted that the Navro-Pio played a significant role in lobbying for the school’s absorption into the public education system.
“We thank the Navro-Pio for his role in this, as well as the Minister of Education.” He added.
The school, which was completed in 2022, is equipped with an administration block, classroom blocks, dormitories, a school auditorium, teachers’ bungalows, a kitchen, and washroom facilities. It also has four mechanised boreholes and is fully fenced.

The establishment of the TVET institution adds to a number of development projects in the area championed by Fr. Wugaa with support from donors.
These include the Bishop Abadamlora R/C Primary and Junior High School and the St. Francis of Assisi Clinic
