Upper East RCC mourns loss of eight officials in tragic helicopter crash
In a statement released, the RCC conveyed its profound shock and grief at the loss, which includes both current and former Ministers of State of the Republic of Ghana.
The Upper East Regional Coordinating Council has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that occurred yesterday, August 6, 2025, in the Ashanti Region, claiming the lives of eight, including two state ministers and members of the Ghana Air Force.
In a statement released, the RCC conveyed its profound shock and grief at the loss, which includes both current and former Ministers of State of the Republic of Ghana.
“This sad event has plunged the entire nation into mourning and left the families in indescribable pain. It is a colossal loss to the government and the people of Ghana,” the statement read.
On behalf of the Chiefs and People of the Upper East Region, the Regional Coordinating Council extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, friends, and all communities affected by what it described as an “irreparable loss.”
The RCC also called for calm, unity, and support for the families of the deceased, urging residents across the region and the nation to uphold the grieving families in prayer and to offer comfort in any way possible.
“This is a moment of great national sorrow. We stand in solidarity and mourning with the entire nation in this moment of deep grief and loss,” the Council added.
The tragic incident occurred in the early afternoon hours and investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the crash.
The Council paid tribute to the fallen officials and Air Force personnel, acknowledging their dedication to national service and patriotism.
“May the souls of the departed, who died in line of duty and service, rest in perfect peace, and their families find strength and healing. May we rise from this tragedy even stronger,” the statement concluded.
