Stephen Akurugo confirmed as Kassena-Nankana West DCE, pledges equal development

The confirmation exercise, supervised by the Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, took place at the Assembly Hall in Paga.

The Kassena-Nankana West District Assembly has overwhelmingly confirmed Stephen Akurugo Aeke as the new District Chief Executive (DCE) in a decisive vote held on Tuesday.

In a strong show of support, Akurugo secured 58 votes out of 65 ballots cast, with only 7 voting against his nomination. The confirmation exercise, supervised by the Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, took place at the Assembly Hall in Paga.

Addressing the Assembly after his confirmation, Akurugo expressed deep appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and the Assembly members for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to serve with integrity and dedication, promising a leadership style rooted in inclusiveness, equity, and transparency.

“I will work hand in hand with traditional leaders, Assembly members, and other key stakeholders to ensure peace and development in the district,” Mr. Akurugo assured

He further assured that he would lead efforts to ensure fair distribution of resources and infrastructure development across all communities within the district.

The Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, praised the Assembly members for their unity and overwhelming endorsement of the nominee.

“On behalf of His Excellency the President, John Dramani Mahama, and behalf of the National Democratic Congress, the leadership from national to regional to constituencies, we are grateful to the members of the Kassena-Nakana West District Assembly this evening for what you have done.” He said.
