A suspected robbery attack has claimed the life of a 22-year-old man at Bolga Nyariga in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region.
The incident reportedly occurred around 2:00 am on August 1, 2025, when the deceased and another person were returning from an evening outing in Bolgatanga township.
The Assembly Member for the Nyariga Electoral Area, Joseph Ayamga, who confirmed the incident to Mike FM, said the event has left the community in shock and called for urgent security intervention.
“I was called at six o’clock this morning, indicating that armed robbery had happened and one person had died. I visited the scene and immediately reported to the police.” He said.
Ayamga explained that the victim and a companion were confronted by masked armed men who attempted to snatch their motorbike. In the attempt to flee, the victim was fatally shot, while the other escaped unhurt.
“According to the survivor, they went to Jokom and later to the 24 Hours Spot, on their way back at the Nyariga junction, four armed men wearing masks stopped them while they were running, he heard shots, but managed to escape, later in the morning, he found out that his friend was dead.” Ayamga narrated.
The assembly member noted that the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital morgue as police commence investigations into the incident.
Ayamga urged the security services to intensify security patrols on that stretch of the road since it has become a safe haven for robbery attacks in recent years.
