NPP will be better in Upper East after Anthony Namoo’s exit – Emmanuel Awinimi

Awinimi accused Chairman Namoo of running the regional party structure like a dictatorship.

Dismissed Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Pusiga Constituency, Emmanuel Awinimi, has blamed the party’s poor electoral performance in the Upper East Region on the leadership of Regional Chairman, Anthony Namoo.

Awinimi, who was recently removed from his position and barred from contesting any party position for the next five years, alleged that both the regional chairman and secretary masterminded sanctions against 16 party members from the Pusiga and Tempane constituencies.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday August 4, Awinimi accused Chairman Namoo of running the regional party structure like a dictatorship.

“He is a dictator. He does not take anybody’s views, what he thinks is final. They handed three seats to him, and he narrowed it to one and now to zero. Now our region has turned into a laughing stock.” He claimed.

He associated the NPP’s failure to secure a single seat in the region during the 2024 elections with what he described as a leadership style that ignores input from the grassroots.

“They handed three seats to him, and he narrowed it to one and now to zero, now our region has turned to a laughing stock”

Awinimi expressed optimism that the party in the region would recover and thrive after Namoo’s departure from office.

“The tables will soon turn, and the party in Upper East will be better after Lawyer Tony. We will be vindicated at the end of the day, mark it.” He said.

He also questioned the electoral performance of both the regional chairman and secretary in their own polling stations during the December 2024 elections.
