Kassena Nankana West DCE rates his performance at 55%
Akurugo explained that his self-assessment is based on the implementation of key government policies and interventions that have positively impacted residents.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Kassena Nankana West District, Stephen Aeke Akurugo, has assessed his performance in office at 55 percent since assuming leadership of the district.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Friday, September 19, Akurugo explained that his self-assessment is based on the implementation of key government policies and interventions that have positively impacted residents.
“We are almost at the end of the year but looking at the implementation of government policies I have done, talking about school feeding, YEA recruitments, the distribution of fertiliser to farmer groups, issues of sanitation and others, I will give myself a 55%.” He stated.
The DCE noted that youth unemployment remains a major challenge in the district but assured that he is working with state institutions such as the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to create more job opportunities for the youth.
Looking ahead, Akurugo revealed plans to establish an Educational Care Fund to support needy students who gain admission into tertiary institutions. He emphasised that this initiative would be his most significant achievement if realised.
“My biggest achievement that I want at the end of my tenure is to set up a Kasena Nankana West Educational Care Fund so it will cater for students who have gotten admission into tertiary institutions because I sit in the office and, day in day out, some students come with their admission letters seeking help, but there are no funds to sponsor them.” He said.
The DCE expressed optimism that with continued collaboration and support, more progress will be made to address the district’s pressing developmental challenges.
