Health is Wealth Keep Fit Club to mark its 16th Anniversary with series of activities
The club, founded in 2009 to enhance the health and well-being of its members through regular exercise, will celebrate its milestone on December 12.

Members of the Health is Wealth Keep Fit Club (HEWEL) have announced a lineup of activities to commemorate the club’s 16th anniversary.
The club, founded in 2009 to enhance the health and well-being of its members through regular exercise, will celebrate its milestone on December 12.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Tuesday, November 12, founding member Peter Wuntua said the club was established to promote good health, fitness, and overall well-being among residents of Navrongo and its surrounding communities.
He explained that the club’s name reflects the belief that being fit brings numerous health benefits and contributes significantly to one’s financial growth.
“Why do we find that health is wealth? If you are healthy, you have wealth. You don’t have to spend time, money on treating yourself. You are strong, you are active. That money can be channeled through other means. But if you are not healthy, all of us know the implications.”

Wuntua noted that over the years, the group has brought together people from diverse backgrounds through regular exercise sessions and health education programs aimed at encouraging healthy lifestyles.
“Regular physical exercise will keep you healthy. Adequate sleep will keep you healthy. And stress management that will also keep you healthy. For our club, we are concentrating on regular physical exercise, and from time to time, we also invite people to come and talk about other issues like stress management.” He added.
The club’s chairman, founding member, highlighted the inclusive nature of HEWEL, which welcomes people of all ages, professions, and backgrounds.
We take all ages. We take all sexes. We have retirees amongst us. We have the very young amongst us. We have market women. We have the working class with us. In fact, all professions. In fact, as I talk to you now, if I want to mention some of the names of the Keep Fit Club members, you might be surprised.”

Alobase further outlined a range of activities planned for the anniversary celebration, including a launch, radio discussion programs, and a dinner.
“A lunch and climax that is going to be on the 13th of December. It would have been on the 12th, but because the 12th is a working day, we are sending it to the nearest Saturday. Aside from this, the radio program that we are currently having is another activity, and we will climax with the dinner.”
He added that the anniversary will also serve as a moment of reflection and a renewal of commitment toward the club’s goal of promoting physical and mental wellness among its members.

A member of the club, Vivian Aziladaga, used the opportunity to invite more residents to join the group, emphasizing that participation in such health-focused activities helps reduce stress and prevent lifestyle-related diseases.
“I’ll encourage each one who wants to stay healthy to join us. We exercise on Saturdays and then on Wednesdays in the evening, so we are inviting the general public to come and join us. Let’s exercise and then be fit.”
