The resolutions were contained in the Executive Committee Report presented by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Stephen Aeke Akurugo, during the Third Ordinary Meeting of the District Assembly, held at the Assembly Conference Hall on December 19.
The Kassena Nankana West District Assembly is set to adopt its Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP) as part of key resolutions presented by the Executive Committee to guide development planning and infrastructure delivery across the district.
The resolutions were contained in the Executive Committee Report presented by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Stephen Aeke Akurugo, during the Third Ordinary Meeting of the District Assembly, held at the Assembly Conference Hall on December 19.
Presenting the report, the DCE explained that the Executive Committee met on Monday, December 1, 2025, to deliberate on recommendations submitted by the Assembly’s statutory sub-committees for onward consideration and approval by the General Assembly.
“I am pleased to stand before you to present to this august house the Executive Committee Report of the Assembly.” Akurugo stated.
A major resolution outlined in the report is the presentation and adoption of the draft Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP), which will serve as the district’s strategic blueprint for development interventions in the coming years.
“The draft Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP) should be presented to the General Assembly for adoption,” the report indicated.
The Executive Committee also recommended improvements in market infrastructure across the district, including the provision of toilets and urinals in all major markets to improve sanitation and public health.
In addition, the Assembly resolved to construct a modern livestock market at Paga, a move expected to enhance trading activities and support livestock farmers and traders in the area.
Other market-related resolutions include the provision of water facilities at major markets, the construction of market sheds for Chiana Market, and the improvement of access routes to the Sirigu, Kandiga and Mirigu markets to ease transportation and boost local commerce.
The Executive Committee further urged the Assembly to prioritise infrastructure support for schools in deplorable conditions, citing institutions such as Kaasi Junior High School and Kasaam Junior High School, among others.
