The Fellowship of Good News Bible Churches has held its Annual Pastors and Church Leaders Conference and elected members of the National Church Council to steer the affairs of the Church for the next four years.

The conference, held in Navrongo from January 5 to 9, was themed “Building Ministries Through Leadership Multiplication.” It brought together national, regional, and district leaders, including ordained and licensed pastors as well as church department leaders.

Participants were taken through a series of activities, including seminars, workshops, and prayer sessions, aimed at equipping them to effectively pursue the mission of the Church.

The main speaker, Rev. Dr. Collins Seager, urged church leaders and pastors to remain rooted in the Word of God, stressing that preaching the Word remains their primary calling.

He further admonished them to preach the Word with excellence and without omissions.

“Preach the Word of God. Prepare well with excellence. Preach all of it, not just your favourite parts preach all of it.” Rev. Seager said.

The Vice General Overseer of the Church, Rev. Boniface Akantoe, said the annual conference serves as a platform to reflect on the Church’s journey in Ghana and to seek God’s direction in charting a path for soul-winning.

“The Church today is drifting from its core mandate, but we want to go back to the basics of winning souls for Christ and discipling those we win, because the Church is suffering due to half-baked Christians.” He said.

He added that the conference also seeks to equip members with training to help them fit well into society and contribute to the socio-economic development of the nation.

“We are not just winning souls, but also training our people to fit well in society, because the Church is not an island; it exists within society.” Rev. Akantoe noted.

Participants described the conference as impactful and spiritually uplifting.

“The speakers emphasized leadership multiplication. As a leader, you cannot do everything alone; you must raise other leaders, be patient with them, and build strong relationships.” Said Joshua, a youth leader.

Election of National Church Council Members

The conference witnessed the re-election of Rev. Dr. Abukari Sayibu Yakubu as General Overseer and Rev. Boniface Akantoe as Vice General Overseer.

Other elected officers include Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Awortwe, General Secretary, Rev. James Gaase as Deputy General Secretary, and Dr. Charles Bandari, as National Treasurer.
