Residents of Wurunia in the Kassena-Nanakana West District have reaffirmed their commitment to improving healthcare access in their community, as they continue efforts to complete a self-initiated Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound.
The initiative, led by the Assembly Member for the area, Vincent Abongpare Alhassan, has seen strong community participation, with residents coming together to contribute labor and resources toward the project.
On Thursday February, 12, 2026 members of the community gathered once again to mold blocks, demonstrating their collective resolve to ensure the successful completion of the health facility.

The Assemblyman commended the people of Wurunia for their unity and dedication, emphasizing that their shared efforts reflect the belief that unity is power.
He noted that the CHPS compound, when completed, will significantly improve access to basic healthcare services and reduce the burden on residents who currently travel long distances to seek medical attention.
He explained that the project was initiated by the community in response to the urgent need for a nearby health facility, and despite limited resources, residents have remained determined to see it through.
The Assembly Member used the occasion to appeal to stakeholders, benevolent individuals, non-governmental organizations, and government agencies to support the project with building materials, financial assistance, and other logistical support.
According to him, completing the CHPS compound will not only improve healthcare delivery but also enhance the overall well-being of the community.

Community members expressed optimism that with continued unity and external support, the project will soon be completed to serve the health needs of Wurunia and surrounding areas.
