GES releases funds for procurement of perishable food items for Senior High Schools

The release of the funds is expected to support schools in procuring perishable food items and improve feeding conditions for students across the country.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the release of outstanding funds for the procurement of perishable food items for Senior High and Technical Schools across the country.

In a press statement issued on April 20, 2026 sighted by Mike FM, the Service indicated that the move is aimed at addressing ongoing concerns about food supply in second-cycle institutions.

“Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform the general public, particularly stakeholders in the education sector, that the outstanding funds for the procurement of perishable food items for Senior High/Technical Schools across the country have been released to the Service.” Part of the statement read.

The statement signed by Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi said processes have already been set in motion to ensure the efficient distribution of the funds to beneficiary schools nationwide. This is expected to ease the burden on school authorities and improve feeding conditions for students.

GES further assured that strict monitoring and accountability measures have been instituted to guarantee that the funds are used judiciously and solely for their intended purpose.

“Monitoring and accountability mechanisms have been put in place to ensure that the funds are utilised judiciously and solely for their intended purpose.”

The service reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of students and the continuous improvement of educational outcomes across the country.
