Peace in Bawku key to youth development – Pusiga MP

She says lasting peace in Bawku is essential for creating opportunities that will support youth development and economic growth in the area.

The Member of Parliament for Pusiga, Laadi Ayii Ayamba, has underscored the importance of lasting peace in Bawku as a critical foundation for youth development and economic progress in Bisa communities.

Speaking during this year’s Zekula Festival of the Bissa People in Kulugungu on April 18, the MP noted that peace and stability are essential for creating opportunities that will enable young people to thrive.

“We want peace, we want development, we want to grow, and that is what will help our youth.” She stated.

Touching on youth unemployment, Madam Ayamba highlighted ongoing efforts to support young people but stressed that individuals must also take initiative to benefit from such interventions.

“Do not sit in your room expecting jobs. You must stand up and be qualified for us to support you.” She advised.

She further expressed concern that many people facing serious personal and economic challenges often fail to seek help, choosing instead to blame authorities.

“Nobody knows what you are going through until you come out. We cannot support you if you stay back and do not speak up” She stressed.

The Zekula Festival is an annual cultural celebration of the Bissa people, marked by traditional performances, community gatherings, and reflections on development issues.
