Delay in 2024 graduation ceremony due to Governing Council dissolution – CK Tedam University

According to a statement released by University Management, the delay stems from the dissolution of the University's Governing Council on January 7, 2025, in line with provisions of the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845).

The C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) has announced a delay in its graduation ceremony for the 2024 cohort of graduands, citing circumstances beyond the institution’s control.

According to a statement released by University Management, the delay stems from the dissolution of the University’s Governing Council on January 7, 2025, in line with provisions of the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845).

The Governing Council holds the legal authority to convene a congregation for the conferment of degrees, and its absence has rendered the University unable to proceed with the ceremony as planned.

The graduation ceremony, typically a highlight of the academic calendar, is a significant milestone for students and faculties alike. University Management acknowledged the disappointment the postponement may cause but emphasized that interim measures are in place to support graduands.

“Management has put in place measures to ensure that affected persons, on application, are issued with transcripts of academic records and attestation letters for purposes of pursuing further studies and gaining employment,” the statement read.

Graduands in need of these documents are advised to apply to the Registrar at:

The University assured its stakeholders, particularly the affected graduands, that the ceremony will be held as soon as a new Governing Council is inaugurated.

CKT-UTAS has pledged to keep the university community informed on further developments as efforts are made to restore full governance and resume normal academic functions.

The statement by the University follows threats by the Student Representative Council (SRC), along with the Graduate Students’ Association (GRASSAG), to embark on a peaceful demonstrations should their concerns, including infrastructural shortfalls and delayed graduation ceremonies, remain unresolved.
