Bulsa North MP James Agalga donates GH¢34,000 towards Sandema dialysis unit project
Contribution expected to support clearance of dialysis machines and improve access to specialised kidney treatment in Sandema

The Member of Parliament for Builsa North, James Agalga, has donated GH¢34,000 towards the establishment of a dialysis unit at the Sandema Municipal Hospital.
The donation, drawn from the MP’s Common Fund allocation, was presented in the form of a cheque to the fundraising committee during a brief ceremony held at the Builsa North Municipal Assembly on Friday, May 22.
Presenting the cheque, Agalga reaffirmed his commitment to improving healthcare delivery in the constituency, stressing that the establishment of a dialysis unit at the Sandema Municipal Hospital would significantly enhance access to life-saving treatment for patients battling kidney-related diseases.
According to him, the donation was specifically intended to support the clearance of dialysis machines from the port to facilitate the commencement of the project.
The cheque was received on behalf of the fundraising team by Margaret Akanbang, a key member of the Builsa Health Development Fund and one of the designated contacts for the dialysis unit initiative.
Akanbang expressed gratitude to the MP for what she described as a timely and generous intervention, noting that the contribution would provide a major boost to ongoing fundraising efforts aimed at securing the required equipment and infrastructure for the facility.
The proposed dialysis unit is expected to ease the burden on patients in Builsa North and adjoining communities, many of whom currently travel long distances to access dialysis treatment in other parts of the country.
Stakeholders say the intervention by Agalga represents a significant step toward improving access to specialized healthcare services in the area, as efforts continue to mobilize resources for the installation and operationalization of the dialysis unit in Sandema.
