The Upper East Regional Executives of Taekwondo have set Saturday, 27th June 2026, as the official date for the commencement of the Regional Taekwondo Championship. The announcement was made during an Executive Board Meeting held on 15th May 2026.
According to the executives, the selected date is considered the most convenient period for organizing the competition.
The championship is aimed at scouting and training talented athletes ahead of the upcoming Korea Ambassador’s Cup Championship scheduled for August 2026.
The competition will feature the following categories:
Kyorugi (Sparring)
Poomsae (Forms)
Kyupa (Breaking)
The event will take place at the Bolgatanga Catholic Social Centre and activities are expected to begin at 8:00 AM.
Athletes from six private schools and one public school are expected to participate in the championship. The participating schools are:
Great Victory Academy
Dream School
East Brown Community School
Golden Step International School
Excel Academy
Presentation Brothers
Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School — the only Senior High School participating in the event.
Awards will be presented to outstanding athletes, while all participants will receive certificates of participation.
