Donation of theatre equipment and OPD furniture expected to boost healthcare delivery at Paga Hospital

The Member of Parliament for Chiana-Paga, Nikyema Billa Alamzy, has donated medical equipment valued at GH¢80,600 to the Paga Hospital to enhance healthcare delivery in the district.

The donation, made on Monday, June 8, followed a request from the hospital for critical equipment to support its operations, according to a Facebook post made by the MP’s Aide.

The items presented included an electric theatre bed, a theatre trolley, two LED theatre lamps, and ten sets of metallic outpatient department (OPD) chairs.

Alamzy was accompanied by the District Chief Executive for Kassena-Nankana West, constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), assembly members, and party supporters.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the District Chief Executive for the Kassena-Nankana West District, Stephen Aeke Akurugo described the equipment as vital to the hospital’s operations and expressed confidence that the donation would significantly improve service delivery at the facility.

He urged the management and staff of the hospital to take proper care of the equipment to ensure its longevity and continued benefit to patients.

Akurugo also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of Ghanaians through investments in critical sectors, particularly healthcare.

“The NDC government remains committed to prioritising the welfare and wellbeing of the people. The MP and I will continue to work together to accelerate development in the district,” he said.

For his part, Alamzy said the equipment was procured to improve efficiency and optimise healthcare services at the hospital.

He commended the newly posted doctors at the facility for accepting postings to the area, noting that many professionals would have declined such assignments.

The MP highlighted his previous contributions to the health sector, including the distribution of 630 benches to health facilities across the district and the donation of two motorbikes to the Mental Health Unit of the District Health Directorate.

He expressed satisfaction that the hospital’s identified critical equipment needs had been addressed but assured residents that his support for the health sector would continue.

Alamzy further disclosed that he was engaging relevant authorities to facilitate the completion of the Agenda 111 Hospital project in the district, stressing that governance is a continuous process that transcends political administrations.

The MP assured constituents that he and the DCE would continue to collaborate closely to advance the development agenda of the constituency.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the hospital, one of the newly posted doctors, Dr. John, expressed appreciation to the MP for what he described as a timely intervention.

According to him, the equipment would greatly ease the workload of health workers and enhance the quality of care provided to patients.

Dr. John particularly praised the electric theatre bed, describing it as one of the best available on the market and a major boost to the hospital’s surgical services.
