Berekum City FC have lifted the maiden Northern Elite Invitational Cup after beating Steadfast FC on penalties, boosting their preparations for the 2026/27 Access Bank Division One League.

Berekum City Football Club has emerged champions of the maiden edition of the Northern Elite Invitational Cup, as the newly promoted Division One side intensifies preparations for the upcoming 2026/27 Access Bank Division One League.

The tournament, held in Tamale, the capital of the Northern Region, brought together Division One clubs from the five regions of northern Ghana.

Berekum City FC secured the prestigious trophy after defeating Steadfast FC on penalties following a goalless draw at the end of regulation time.

The triumph serves as a major boost to the Upper East Region representatives as they prepare to make their mark in the 2026/27 Division One League.

Berekum City’s Bright Amoateng was adjudged the Best Player of the Tournament after an outstanding campaign. He also finished as the Top Scorer, scoring two goals and providing three assists.

Head Coach Mr. Adamu Akugre and his technical team expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance and described the tournament victory as an important step in their preparations for the new season.

The impressive display has also generated renewed confidence and excitement among fans and sports enthusiasts across the Upper East Region, who are eagerly looking forward to seeing Berekum City FC represent the region on the national Division One stage.
