Adafula shifts focus to NDC regional leadership after stepping aside at constituency level

NDC Navrongo Central Secretary Aiden Adafula opts for Deputy Regional Secretary role, citing experience and the need to create opportunities for others.

Aiden Adafula, Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Navrongo Central Constituency, has announced his decision not to seek another term at the constituency level, opting instead to contest for the position of Deputy Regional Secretary.

Adafula said the decision was driven by his belief in creating opportunities for others to serve and build on the achievements of those who had served before them.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Thursday, September 3, he said he had served the NDC at various levels since 2002, including as a branch secretary for about eight years, Assembly Member for the Namolo Electoral Area, Deputy Constituency Secretary and campaign coordinator.

He said his experience at the constituency level had motivated him to seek a broader role where he could contribute to strengthening the party across the Upper East Region.

“I believe in building people and giving people the opportunity to also serve. Once you’ve done something, let them come and continue from where you stopped, build on it and improve upon what you have done,” he said.

Adafula expressed hope that delegates would support his ambition, adding that he was ultimately relying on God for the outcome of the contest.

“I hope that God will see me through and enable me to bring what I’ve learned and my experience to bear in supporting the region to build the party at a level that will be admired by many,” he said.

He also urged NDC members contesting various positions in the constituency to conduct their campaigns peacefully and avoid personal attacks.

Adafula said the internal elections should be viewed as an opportunity to rebuild the party, strengthen unity and bring members together after the contests.

He called on all candidates and party members to contribute their resources, knowledge and experience towards building a stronger NDC capable of standing the test of time.

He said his ambition was to use the experience he had acquired over the years to support the party at the regional level.
