Salam Mustapha withdraws from NPP National Organiser race
The former aspirant cites circumstances beyond his control but reaffirms his commitment to the NPP’s unity, rebuilding and electoral success.
Salam Mustapha has withdrawn from the contest for the position of National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a letter dated September 9, addressed to the Chairman of the NPP National Officers Elections Committee, Mustapha said the decision was difficult, particularly given the encouragement, goodwill and support he had received from party members, delegates, colleagues and well-wishers across the country.
He, however, said “circumstances beyond my control” had made it impossible for him to continue with his candidature.
Mustapha stressed that his withdrawal did not diminish his commitment to the NPP or the ideals of the party.
He said he would continue to contribute to the party’s unity, rebuilding and electoral success, while also working towards the election of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the next President of Ghana.
“My dedication to the Party remains firm, and I will continue to serve and contribute towards its unity, rebuilding and electoral success,” he stated.
The former aspirant expressed gratitude to those who supported his campaign and appealed to his supporters to accept the decision and remain united in the larger interest of the party.
He said political positions could come and go, but commitment to the NPP and its future must remain greater than individual ambitions.
Mustapha also wished the party and all candidates participating in the internal electoral process well, expressing hope that their actions and choices would strengthen the NPP and position it for victory in future elections.
He concluded his letter with a reference to Psalm 23, quoting his favourite verse: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
