Kologo Naaba rallies community support for development

The Naaba made the appeal at the 2026 Kologo Naaba Yesika Festival, held on January 3 at the Kologo Park.

The Paramount Chief (Naaba) of the Kologo Traditional Area and President of the Kologo Traditional Council, Naba Clifford Abagna Asobayire V, has called on residents, particularly the youth, to unite behind efforts aimed at accelerating the development of the area and to desist from activities that undermine their future and the progress of the community.

The Naaba made the appeal at the 2026 Kologo Naaba Yesika Festival, held on January 3 at the Kologo Park.

Addressing traditional authorities, invited guests, and community members, the chief emphasized the importance of unity and coordinated action in driving sustainable development.

“All that you are seeing here is the effort of myself and the planning committee, using our own resources. If we can do this on our own and you all rally behind us, and we approach government for support, they will listen to us. But if we sit back and fight among ourselves, we will remain where we are.” He said.

He specifically cautioned the youth to refrain from acts that derail development, urging them to channel their energies into productive ventures that would benefit both themselves and the wider community.

“I am appealing to the youth to stop engaging in activities that hinder the development of Kologo.” The chief stressed.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Kasena Nankana Municipal Assembly, Faustina Akeyom Abulu, in a speech read on her behalf, commended the Naaba and the people of Kologo for their commitment to development.

She reaffirmed government’s dedication to ensuring equitable distribution of development projects through the Assembly.

“Let me use this platform to assure you that government, through the Assembly, will ensure that the people of the Kologo Traditional Area continue to receive their fair share of development projects and programmes being rolled out.”

As part of the festival celebrations, awards were presented to best-performing students in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), outstanding teachers, and dedicated nurses in the community in recognition of their contributions.

The event also featured the Face of Kologo Beauty Pageant, where Deborah Adawina, a 24-year-old graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), emerged as the overall winner and drove home a car.

The first and second runners-up received a motorbike and a refrigerator, respectively, along with other consolation prizes.
