Builsa launches 2026 Feok Festival with call for unity and cultural preservation

The 2026 edition of the FEOK Festival has been officially launched at Chuchuliga in the Builsa Traditional Area, with a strong call for unity, cultural preservation, and early preparation toward a successful celebration.

The launch, held on Saturday at the Chuchuliga Old Primary School Park, brought together traditional authorities, religious leaders, women’s groups, youth associations, and cultural performers from across Buluk.

The launch, held under the theme “Feok: From Ancestral Victory to Generational Prosperity: The Development Prospects,” marked the beginning of preparations for the main festival celebration scheduled for December 2026.

The early launch of the 2026 FEOK Festival is intended to give the planning committee, chiefs, and all Builsa people both at home and in the diaspora ample time to adequately prepare for the main festival slated for December 2026.

Addressing the gathering, the Overlord of the Builsa Traditional Area, Nab Azagsuk Azantilow, called on all Builsas to unite and actively contribute to ensuring the success of this year’s festival. He emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in sustaining the cultural legacy of Buluk.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Builsa North, Solomon Akogti, also underscored the need to preserve the Builsa language and cultural identity.

He urged traditional leaders to promote the wearing of indigenous attire, particularly smocks and other traditional wear, as a way of strengthening cultural pride.

The launch event ended on a high note, with attendees and traditional leaders expressing excitement and making a collective promise to make the 2026 Feok Festival the most exceptional.

The gathering was marked by drumming, dancing, and a vibrant display of Builsa heritage.

The drumming, cultural displays, and vibrant turnout of community members set the tone for what is expected to be a grand celebration come December.

The Feok Festival remains one of the most significant cultural events on the calendar of the Builsa people, commemorating their ancestors’ historic victories and affirming their cultural heritage for generations to come.
