RRU4DMB marks second anniversary, reiterates commitment to NPP and Bawumia
In a press statement dated August 5, 2025, to commemorate its second anniversary, Ing Filson Apambilla Awankua, the group's founder, reaffirmed their commitment to serve the NPP in all its endeavours.
Rapid Response Unit for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (RRU4DMB), an Upper East-based Political Movement aligned to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has today, August 5, marked two years of its establishment since 2023.
The movement, founded with an aim to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s flagbearership and the NPP’s campaign during the 2024 general elections, has developed into a vibrant volunteer group of the party in the Upper East region.
In a press statement dated August 5, 2025, to commemorate its second anniversary, Ing Filson Apambilla Awankua, the group’s founder, reaffirmed their commitment to serve the NPP in all its endeavours.
“Despite our deep regret over the unfortunate outcome of the 2024 elections, the RRU remains steadfast in its commitment to the NPP and its core values. This phase in our political journey, though disheartening, presents us with a renewed opportunity to rebuild, regroup, and re-strategize toward a stronger and more unified party.” The statement read.
The group also called on the party hierarchy to reunite their ranks and forge ahead toward rebuilding and repositioning for political power.
“RRU therefore advocates for unity and cohesion within the ranks of the NPP, as these are essential foundations for our future triumph. Now, more than ever, we must unite with a common purpose and shared determination to reclaim power in the 2028 general elections.” The statement added.
The statement further endorsed the candidature of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for the party’s presidential candidate for the 2028 elections. arguing that he is best positioned to lead the party to victory ahead of other party stalwarts who have shown interest in leading the NPP.
“We are firmly convinced that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia remains the party’s most formidable asset and optimal choice to lead us back to power. His strategic acumen, tenacity, experience, and unparalleled expertise position him as the ideal leader to restore hope, drive progress, and reconnect with the Ghanaian populace.
The RRU4DMB said it diligently mobilised resources, promptly addressed operational needs, and served as a steadfast partner to the NPP’s campaign teams across the region during the 2024 election period.
