SearchGhana develops digital platform to ease property rental challenges
SearchGhana developer Joseph Tuurosung says the platform seeks to simplify property searches, connect landlords with tenants and reduce rental fraud.
Developers of SearchGhana, a digital property marketplace have introduced an online platform designed to connect property owners with people seeking accommodation and other properties, in an effort to address challenges associated with property rentals.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Tuesday September 29, the developer of SearchGhana Joseph Tuurosung, said the idea for the platform was inspired by his personal experience of searching for accommodation in Navrongo.
According to him, the search took about a month before he was able to secure accommodation, an experience that prompted him to explore ways of making the process easier and more convenient for others.
He said the difficulties he encountered during the search led him to ask questions about how technology could be used to improve access to properties, eventually resulting in the development of SearchGhana.
The platform, which can be accessed via www.searchghana.com or downloaded from the Google Play Store allows users to search for properties based on specific locations, including regions, municipalities, districts, towns and communities.
Tuurosung said property owners can also list their properties on the platform, allowing them to connect directly with potential tenants and other prospective clients.
He explained that prospective tenants who express interest in a particular property have the option of unlocking additional information about it, including apartment details, location and payment information, for a moderate fee.
According to him, the platform also provides a payment mechanism intended to offer some protection to prospective tenants.
He explained that once a payment is made through the platform, the money is held for three days to allow the prospective tenant to visit and inspect the property.
He said if the prospective tenant is dissatisfied with the property after inspection, the payment is returned, while the money is transferred to the property owner after the prospective tenant confirms the property.
Tuurosung said the system was designed with security measures to help protect users and reduce the risk of fraudulent activities associated with property rentals.
He therefore urged property owners, prospective tenants, agents and the general public to patronise the platform to meet their property-related needs.
