Adafula rallies Upper East stakeholders to unite behind regional development
NDC’s Aiden Adafula urges political leaders, traditional authorities and residents to set aside partisan and tribal differences and unite behind key development projects in the Upper East Region.
National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Secretary for Navrongo Central, Aiden Adafula, has called on political leaders, traditional authorities and residents of the Upper East Region to put partisan and tribal differences aside and work together to accelerate development in the region.
Adafula said the region must take advantage of emerging development opportunities, including the proposed Upper East Regional Airport and efforts to strengthen medical education in the region.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Thursday, September 3, he said development projects should not be viewed through partisan lenses, since their benefits would ultimately be enjoyed by the entire population.
He cited the proposed regional airport as one major project that required collective support, arguing that discussions over its location should not become a source of division among residents.
Adafula also called for stronger collaboration among the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), the Upper East Regional Hospital and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate the development of medical training in the region.
He said the proposed conversion of the regional hospital into a teaching hospital could reduce the burden on medical students who currently have to travel outside the region for practical training.
He appealed to chiefs, elders and other influential stakeholders to support initiatives aimed at making such development projects successful.
According to him, residents should focus on the collective benefits of development rather than who receives political credit for particular projects.
“Let’s work together when it comes to some developmental issues. We should put our political parties aside and work to achieve what is right,” he stressed.
Adafula further argued that political competition could contribute positively to development if political parties focused on presenting alternative ideas and offering constructive criticism rather than engaging in personal attacks.
He urged residents of the Upper East Region to take advantage of the opportunities currently available and work collectively to attract more development to the region.
“The challenge we have is that we want to attribute success to individuals, but the individual cannot achieve. It’s the collective that can achieve,” he said.
