Aworigo deserves applause, not criticism – NDC defends top MP ranking
NDC communicator Charles Ayipah says the Global InfoAnalytics survey should be viewed as a credible measure of public opinion and a tool for improving parliamentary performance.
A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team, Charles Ayipah, has defended the latest Global InfoAnalytics survey that ranked Navrongo Central Member of Parliament, Simon Akibange Aworigo, among Ghana’s top-performing Members of Parliament.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Friday, Ayipah said the survey was conducted by one of Ghana’s most reputable research organisations and should not be dismissed simply because some politicians disagree with its findings.
He described Global InfoAnalytics and its Executive Director, Mussa Dankwah, as credible pollsters with a proven track record in electoral and public opinion research.
Ayipah acknowledged that no research institution is infallible but maintained that opinion polls should serve as a tool for accountability and encourage public officials to improve their performance rather than attack the findings.
“A life that is unexamined is not worth living. These polls help keep public officials on their toes,” he stated.
He congratulated Aworigo for emerging as the highest-rated MP among the selected constituencies in the Upper East Region, saying the recognition reflected the lawmaker’s consistent engagement with constituents and efforts to address their needs.
According to him, the MP adopts a strategic approach by engaging communities individually, identifying their unique challenges and responding with targeted interventions.
“He knows where to touch and make a mark. Every community feels his presence,” Ayipah said.
He, however, clarified that the survey should not be interpreted to mean that Aworigo is the best-performing MP among all the 15 Members of Parliament in the Upper East Region, noting that only five constituencies from the region were included in the survey.
Ayipah urged MPs who received lower ratings in the survey to study the findings and use them as an opportunity for self-assessment and improved service delivery rather than dismissing the research outright.
