Bawumia Campaign condemns insults by Kennedy Agyapong, says allegations are wrongful attributions
The team expressed great concern over the video message in which Agyapong, a fellow contender in the race, accused him of making false claims against the former Vice President.
The campaign team of former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has strongly rejected what it describes as baseless, uninformed, and unwarranted personal attacks by Kennedy Agyapong, following a recent video circulating on social media ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primaries.
In a press statement issued on January 20, 2026, by the Bawumia Campaign, signed by the Chairman of the campaign communication, Nana Akomea, the team expressed great concern over the video message in which Agyapong, a fellow contender in the race, accused him of making false claims against the former Vice President.
According to the statement, Kennedy Agyapong is seen in the video falsely accusing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of making remarks regarding the health status of Albert Adu Boahen and a so-called decision not to participate in the 1996 NPP primaries.
The campaign team further noted that the Assin Central MP went on to “unfairly brand Dr. Bawumia as a liar who is unfit for leadership.
“For absolute clarity, Dr. Bawumia has never made the statements that have been attributed to him. We ask Hon. Kennedy Agyapong to produce the video or audio evidence without further delay if he stands by this baseless attack. The statement said
The campaign team warned that such conduct could harm party unity and have the potential to mislead the public and inflame tensions within our Party.”
The statement further called on. Kennedy Agyapong to retract his comments and apologise, urging him to urgently apologise to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the false statement he has made about him.
Reaffirming Dr. Bawumia’s leadership style, the campaign emphasized that the Vice President believes “as leaders, we must always state our views devoid of tantrums and personal insults while maintaining truthfulness, decorum, and restraint at all times.”
