Brigadier General Tei hands over to Brigadier General Agbebo as GOC Northern Command

Brigadier General Frank Nartey Tei, expressed gratitude to the Military High Command for the opportunity to serve. He reflected on the challenges encountered during his tenure, especially chieftaincy tensions and security threats within the Command’s area of operational responsibility.

The Ghana Armed Forces Northern Command Headquarters has held a handing/taking-over parade to formally usher in Brigadier General Frank Worlanyo Agbebo as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command.

The ceremony took place on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the forecourt of the Command Headquarters in Tamale.

The event also saw the commissioning of key welfare and infrastructure projects, including a state-of-the-art barbering salon, a block-making factory, and the Command’s new mineral water production facility, Eagle Drop.

In his farewell address, the outgoing GOC and Commander of the 15 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Frank Nartey Tei, expressed gratitude to the Military High Command for the opportunity to serve. He reflected on the challenges encountered during his tenure, especially chieftaincy tensions and security threats within the Command’s area of operational responsibility.

Despite these difficulties, Brigadier General Tei highlighted successful security operations during the 2024 General Elections in Bawku, made possible through close collaboration with sister security services. He commended the resilience, professionalism, and dedication of the troops under his command.

He also outlined developmental projects initiated during his leadership, including the construction of Eagle Nest — a modern residential complex for future GOCs — and the introduction of welfare initiatives such as the new production facilities and barbering salon, aimed at enhancing troop morale.

On healthcare, he noted a fruitful partnership with the Bank of Ghana that enabled the establishment of a Blood Bank and the refurbishment of the Paediatric Ward at the 6 Medical Reception Station (6 MRS).

Guest of Honour, Air Commodore Adu Gyamfi, Base Commander of the Air Force Base Tamale, praised Brigadier General Tei’s visionary leadership and effective coordination during critical security operations. He also welcomed Brigadier General Agbebo and pledged full support from the security community.

The dignified and well-attended parade was witnessed by senior military officials, sister security agency heads, traditional leaders, troops, and their families, marking a smooth and honourable transition of command.
