Kassena-Nankana Municipal health director urges discipline among health workers
He cited absenteeism as one of the major issues affecting healthcare delivery in the municipality and raised concerns about reports of unauthorised charges being imposed on patients at certain health facilities, which he described as unacceptable.
The Municipal Health Director for the Kassena-Nankana Municipal Health Directorate, Dr. Edmond Mohammed Nelic Nyanwura, is urging healthcare professionals across the municipality to recommit to the core values of the Ghana Health Service.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Thursday June 26, Dr. Nyanwura expressed concern over increasing acts of indiscipline among some health workers, particularly those stationed at CHPS compounds and health centres.
He cited absenteeism as one of the major issues affecting healthcare delivery in the municipality and raised concerns about reports of unauthorised charges being imposed on patients at certain health facilities, which he described as unacceptable.
“I need my staff to share the vision that we have, and that’s the vision of the Ghana Health Service. So we all have to work towards giving the best quality of health care to the people of the municipality.”
Dr. Nyanwura, who assumed office in January this year, assured the public and the municipal assembly of his commitment to addressing the pressing challenges facing healthcare delivery in the area, including inadequate infrastructure, unprofessional conduct by staff, and limited resources at key health facilities.
He encouraged community members to speak up and report health professionals who display misconduct or fail to deliver proper care.
“The people of Navrongo should have confidence in me that I will deliver. This is not my first station, I’m 10 years as a district director in Upper East, so they need to have that confidence in me.” He added.
