Denis Apusika returns home to a warm welcome after historic Bolga-Accra walk
Apusika’s walk is already beginning to yield positive results. Just recently, the President of the Republic spoke about plans to build new stadia in regions that currently lack such facilities, and the Upper East Region was not left out.

Gone are the days when the only means of transportation from one place to another was by walking. Nowadays, it’s much easier to travel, regardless of distance, using vehicles, tricycles, and motorbikes.
However, just three months ago, a young boy from Bolga-Sherigu in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region defied the odds by walking all the way from Bolgatanga to Accra, the nation’s capital. His goal? To advocate for the construction of a sports stadium in his region.

On Saturday, 4th October 2025, Dennis Apusika was warmly welcomed back home by the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Isaac Adongo, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bolgatanga, representatives from the Upper East Regional Tourism Office led by Wisdom Ahadzi, traditional chiefs, civil society organizations, family members, and friends.
Denis’s walk is already beginning to yield positive results. Just recently, the President of the Republic spoke about plans to build new stadia in regions that currently lack such facilities, and the Upper East Region was not left out.
Denis expressed his profound gratitude to Isaac Adongo and Roland Atanga Ayoo for their unwavering support.

He also extended heartfelt thanks to Wisdom Ahadzi of the Upper East Regional Tourism Office for backing his vision that connects sports and tourism. Additional appreciation went to the Chief of Bukere, the Tindaana, Assembly Members, retired footballers, youth group Alagumgube led by Gabriel Agambila, the Presiding Member of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, Stephen, his family from Bolgatanga-Sherigu, and members of the media.
His walk was never for personal gain, but for the greater good of the region, pushing for the construction of a sports stadium and helping shape a brighter future for the next generation.
