Destroy code of conduct if you fail to reprimand Sammy Gyamfi- NPP tells President Mahama
This demand follows the circulation of a viral video in which Gyamfi is seen handing out dollar billls to the self-styled evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa.
The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dared President John Mahama to uphold his recently launched code of conduct for public appointees by taking immediate disciplinary action against the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi.
This demand follows the circulation of a viral video in which Gyamfi is seen handing out dollar billls to the self-styled evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa.
At a press conference held at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, the NPP’s National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, described Gyamfi’s actions as a flagrant violation of the ethical standards set by the President’s new code.
“Unsurprisingly, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, like an incorrigible child, has blatantly violated both obligations under the code,” Boakye stated. “The President must, in accordance with section six of his pledge on page nine of the code, deal swiftly with Sammy Gyamfi.”
Boakye condemned what he described as Gyamfi’s display of opulence, asserting that such conduct undermines the credibility of the President’s ethics framework.
“If the President is unable to act on this matter, the code of conduct must be shredded. It is of no use — it is useless,” Boakye said emphatically.
The NPP also criticized what it sees as a conflict of interest involving certain government appointees who continue to hold positions within the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), arguing that it erodes the separation between party and state functions.
