Faustina Akeyom Abulu confirmed as Kassena-Nankana MCE

Faustina Akeyom Abulu, President John Mahama’s nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Kassena-Nankana Municipal Assembly, has been confirmed by the Assembly Members.
In a dramatic turnaround, Abulu secured 37 out of 50 votes, representing 74%, during the confirmation, a significant improvement from her initial rejection by the Assembly in April.
Her confirmation sparked spontaneous celebrations across the municipality, with residents flooding the streets in jubilation. The joyous scenes came after weeks of calls from community members and party faithful for consensus and unity among Assembly Members to support her nomination.
At the swearing-in ceremony, the Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, charged the newly confirmed MCE to work harmoniously with Assembly Members and staff of the municipal assembly to drive development.
He stressed the importance of unity, noting that progress in the municipality hinges on cooperation and shared purpose.
“You have to work in unison in with the Assembly members and staff of the assembly because we need unity to be able to develop the municipality, ”
In an emotional address to the media, a tearful Faustina Abulu expressed gratitude to President John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the trust placed in her leadership.
“I want to thank President John Maham for the confidence in me, the party and all those who supported me. I will prioritize unity and development for the good of our people,” she stated.
Abulu also called on members of the NDC and the wider community to move past earlier disagreements that surrounded her nomination. She urged all stakeholders to work together in fostering peace and progress in the municipality.
Residents now see Abulu’s confirmation as a pivotal moment for the Kassena-Nankana area, setting the stage for renewed focus on development and effective local governance.
