I will inject energy into the NPP again with open-door leadership – Awankua assured

Awankua is taking a third shot at the chairmanship of the NPP with a conviction to reposition the NPP as an attractive party in the region for electoral success.

Ing Filson Apambilla Awankua, an aspiring Chairman for the New Patriotic Party in the Upper East and Founder of the Rapid Response Unite for Dr Mahmudu Bawumia (RRU4DMB), has promised to rejuvenate the party when elected to lead its regional administration.

Awankua is taking a third shot at the chairmanship of the NPP with a conviction to reposition the NPP as an attractive party in the region for electoral success.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Tuesday August 5, Awankua stressed that his leadership will operate and open a door to political policy, giving all members of the NPP in the region a voice to contribute to rebuilding the party.

“My coming is to inject new energy, new ideas through open door politics that will make NPP more attractive to everybody because the more you get people to believe in your leadership, the more the numbers will increase.”

Awankua bewailed the present state of the party in the region, particularly its failure to produce a single seat in the 2024 polls and a record of an average of 22% for its presidential candidate.

He further pledged his commitment to inject a new form of energy in the youth and women’s wing of the party if given the nod this time round, with an explicit promise to establish a grassroots desk in the regional secretariat to address concerns of party faithful.

“I was born a grassrooter, I am a grassrooter, I will continue to be a grassrooter, so I’m going to make sure we revive the grassroots and make them not passive participants, but active participants of the party, so I promise that there will be a desk for the grassroots.” Awankua stated.

He noted that as a grassroots-focused person, he is determined to visit all former party leaders from the polling station to the constituency level as part of his efforts to reopen the party to all.

“We have party leaders in all our polling stations who are not active because they feel neglected, so I will revive their interest in it, because these are the people who won seats for us in the past, you cannot abandon such a group, so one key thing I will do is to visit almost all former executives, from polling station to the top.” He added.
