Democracy was at play at the NPP National Delegates Conference – Thomas Kwalase

Kwalase said the conference was not only successful in terms of participation and organization, but also a demonstration of the party’s commitment to democratic principles and internal accountability.

The Chiana-Paga Constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Thomas Kwalase, has lauded the party for what he described as a successful and democratic National Delegates Conference held over the weekend.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday, July 21, Kwalase said the conference was not only successful in terms of participation and organization, but also a demonstration of the party’s commitment to democratic principles and internal accountability.

“So in a whole, it was a successful conference, and we hope that the intent and purpose of the conference will serve the party good,” he stated.

Kwalase emphasized that the rejection of two motions during the conference was a clear indication of the party’s openness to diverse views and its willingness to let the will of the majority prevail.

“It was only two out of the 56 motions that were rejected by Conference, and as you know, the NPP as the most democratic party in our country, democracy was at play,” he noted. “Delegates thought that those motions were not good for the party at this time, so Conference dismissed them.”

He added that the motions that were accepted at the event will serve as a fresh foundation as the party gears up to regain power in the 2028 general elections.

The NPP’s National Delegates Conference, held over the weekend, brought together key party stakeholders from across the country to deliberate on policy proposals and strategies aimed at strengthening the party ahead of future electoral contests.
