Residents fully support the KNMA decongestion drive – Felix Kondayire

The taskforce says widespread public support and the involvement of traditional authorities are expected to ensure the success of the decongestion exercise in improving safety and order within the Navrongo Central Business District.

The Chairman of the Kassena-Nankana Municipal Special Decongestion Exercise Taskforce and Secretary to the Navro-Pio, Felix Kondayire, has stated that residents of the municipality have expressed strong support for the ongoing decongestion exercise.

The initiative is aimed at improving public safety and ensuring the free flow of both vehicular and pedestrian traffic within the Navrongo Central Business District.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday, April 4, 2026, Kondayire noted that prior engagements with residents revealed widespread enthusiasm and anticipation for the exercise and its expected outcomes.

“Almost everybody in the municipality supports the initiative. Some even say it is long overdue, while others believe it should have started earlier,”

“This shows the level of enthusiasm among residents, and we are encouraged by their readiness to see the impact of the exercise.” He added.

Kondayire further indicated that the involvement of the Navrongo Traditional Council in this year’s exercise underscores the seriousness of the initiative.

“The lands belong to the traditional authorities, and when the municipality is clean and well-organised, it enhances their image as well. We all want a peaceful and pleasant environment where people can go about their daily activities whether trading or otherwise safely and happily.” He explained.

He assured that the Task Force is fully committed to ensuring the successful implementation of the exercise. Unlike previous attempts, he said, this year’s effort has been preceded by extensive stakeholder engagement to secure public support.
