Kassena-Nankana West Assembly targets 30 projects with GH¢1.96 Million DACF allocation
The funds will be used in line with national priorities and DACF guidelines, with allocations spread across seven thematic areas.
The Kassena-Nankana West District Assembly has received GH¢1,961,148.05 from the District Assemblies’ Common Fund (DACF) for the first quarter of 2025, earmarked for the rollout of 30 development projects across critical sectors.
District Chief Executive (DCE), Stephen Akurugo Aeke, disclosed this during the Assembly’s first General Meeting on August 19. He noted that the funds will be used in line with national priorities and DACF guidelines, with allocations spread across seven thematic areas:
Water Access Expansion (Boreholes)
- Drilling and construction of boreholes in 13 communities, including Sirigu SHS, Paga SHS, Chiana SHS, Kalasi, Wurania, Kazugu, Sahagu, Dapore, Ahncore, Paga Primary, Tampizua, Katiu-Afissom, and Gwneila-Voda.
Health Infrastructure
- Construction of a CHPS compound at Amuntanae
- Maternity blocks at Mirigu and Nakong
- Completion of health staff bungalows at Bunsungo and Kayoro-Aboro
Education Development
- Two 3-unit classroom blocks at Boania A and B
- Completion of classroom blocks at Dazong JHS, Agandaa Primary, Akatomi Primary, and Kayoro Wuru JHS
- Procurement of 400 hexagonal tables and 240 chairs for KG pupils
- Provision of 500 dual desks for primary schools
Sanitation Initiatives
- Evacuation of refuse dams and maintenance of dumping sites
- Quarterly fumigation exercises
- Procurement of refuse containers, public toilets, and sanitation tools
- Desludging of institutional toilets and enforcement of WASH by-laws
Flagship Market Project
- Design and construction of a 24-hour economy market to boost local commerce and job creation
Akurugo emphasised that the Assembly remains committed to transparency and timely execution, stressing that the projects are aimed at addressing pressing community needs and driving inclusive development.
This first-quarter allocation forms part of a broader GH¢18.3 million earmarked for the district under the 2025 DACF, with further disbursements expected to support ongoing infrastructure and social interventions.
