Kassena Nankana West District: Full List of 41st National Farmers’ Day Award Winners
This year, about 40 farmers, farmer groups, and two educational institutions were recognised for their exceptional contributions to agriculture in the district. Atingane Agogiyane, a farmer from Kandiga, emerged as the Overall District Best Farmer.
The Kassena Nankana West District Assembly has celebrated the 41st National Farmers’ Day, paying tribute to the farmers and fishers whose dedication continues to sustain food security and community livelihoods across the district and the nation.
The celebration, held on Friday, December 5 at the Paga Town Park, was themed “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.” The District Chief Executive, Stephen Aeke Akurugu, together with officials from the District Agriculture Department, led the event, which featured an exhibition of agricultural produce and machinery, as well as the presentation of awards to distinguished farmers and fishers.

Link Ghana, in partnership with the Fisheries Commission, awarded the Kajelo Fish and Vegetable Farmers Group and the SKGK Crema Farmer Group for their contributions.
Akuafo Nketewa Company Limited, the business wing of the Peasant Farmers Association, sponsored awards for Issifu Zenabu (Best Contract Female Farmer), Arron Achana (Best Contract Male Farmer), and Apialore Alagewugaa (Lead Farmer – Sorghum).
The Catholic Diocesan Development Office, Nabocado, sponsored four additional awards presented to Albert Agusaki (Overall Best in Sustainable Agricultural Practices), Awolingo Apaayeh (Overall Best Farmer Innovation – Seed Storage), Asumaka Akolgo (Overall Best Creative Farmer), and Anamduah Akliwine (Best Tree Crop Farmer).
The event was supported by several organisations and individuals, including the Member of Parliament for Chiana-Paga, Nikyema Billa Alamzy, Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited, Naara Rural Bank, and ORGIIS Ghana and others.
