Kaweinia D/A Primary School appeals for more classroom blocks to improve learning
Despite a growing pupil population, the school has only three permanent classroom blocks and two temporary makeshift structures, a situation that has forced several classes to share the same rooms during lessons.
Authorities of Kaweinia D/A Primary School at Nakong in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region are appealing to the government, the District Assembly, and non-governmental organizations to support the school with additional classroom infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning.
The school, which operates from the nursery level to Basic Six, is currently facing severe classroom congestion due to inadequate infrastructure.
Despite a growing pupil population, the school has only three permanent classroom blocks and two temporary makeshift structures, a situation that has forced several classes to share the same rooms during lessons.
Speaking to Mike FM on the sidelines of a donation of school uniforms to selected students of the school by Fedosam Foundation on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, Assistant Headmaster Edward Kubachua described the situation as challenging and called for urgent intervention from stakeholders in the education sector.
“We even combine classes, from P1, KG1, KG2 are in one class, and then P2, P3 are also in one class, then P5 and 6, they are also in one class, it is only one class that is for P4. So we are planning on the district assembly to give us separate blocks for the primary school.” He lamented
He added that the congestion is negatively affecting effective teaching, concentration, and overall academic performance of pupils, as teachers are compelled to manage multiple classes within limited spaces.
According to him, providing additional classroom blocks would not only ease overcrowding but also create a more conducive learning environment for pupils and teachers.
Kubachua appealed to the government, philanthropists, and NGOs to prioritize the school in future educational infrastructure projects, stressing that improved facilities would significantly boost teaching and learning outcomes in the community.
